The time has come for presenting the 47th edition of the ADG Laus Awardsto graphic design and visual communication of Barcelona. The FAD’s Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers (ADG-FAD) bestows these awards to recognize excellence in graphic communication. The awards are presented during the Nit Laus, a celebration of graphic art that is an indispensable annual meeting point for the creative community.
These awards, which were founded in 1964 to promote the disciplines of graphic design and visual communication in the country’s cultural and economic life, are growing with the aim of boosting international participation. ADG-FAD presents the awards during the now traditional Nit Laus, a celebration of graphic art that is a meeting point for hundreds of industry professionals and which has become an essential touchstone for bringing to light the year’s most relevant creative proposals.
Laus categories and awards
The projects are divided into several categories: Graphic Design, Digital Design, Advertising Creativity, Audiovisuals and Students. These categories compete in their own sections for the Bronze Laus, Silver Lausand Gold Laus trophies. Within each one of these sections, the projects recognized with a Gold Laus compete for a Grand Laus and, in the case of the students, for Young Talent. The chair of each category will gather their jury together to debate on the Gold Laus and assess whether one of the works is worthy of being eligible for the Grand Laus. To be awarded, these prizes require the unanimity of the jury (with a maximum of one vote against).
Moreover, all the works entered in the Laus Awards jointly compete for the Laus Aporta-Fundación Banco Sabadell, a prize that evaluates projects that stand out for their social, economic or cultural contribution.
Finally, the Board of theADG-FAD chooses two important prizes: the Honour Laus and the Businesses and Institutions Laus.
A total of 97 pieces were selected this year, included in the various categories, which will be on display at “The Best Design of the Year” exhibition located in Room A of theDisseny Hub Barcelona building from 27 June to 29 October.
The Laus Awards have a jury for each category, a set of diverse and numerous teams to generate debate. Their members are specialists in the different disciplines of graphic design and their environment. In total, the jury comprises 6 Chairs and 31 people committed to the principles of the Laus Awards.
