The prize-giving ceremonies fill the outdoor auditorium of the FADfest, while the mobile exhibition The State of Tourism and the Tour of Alternative Stories bring the FADfest to the citizens.
The FADfest, the Arts and Design Festival organized by the FAD, closed its seventh edition with very positive figures. This year it was staged over a highly concentrated timeframe between 27 June and 2 July and a total of 14,000 people attended or participated in the 13 activities of the FADfest, all of them internally produced.
The functions with the highest turnout were the Tour of Alternative Stories on Tourist Barcelona, with 1,400 attendees, the inaugural session, with the conference imparted by Michael Webb of Archigram and the opening of the exhibitions, with 800 people, the prize-giving ceremonies for the FAD Architecture Awards (780 people), the Nit Laus (550) and the prize giving of the ArtsFAD Awards (270), plus the Tourism, Sun and Sex film cycle, which attracted 660 spectators. The figures were closed this week precisely so that we could include the visitors to this cycle, which ended on Sunday and was organized jointly with Filmoteca de Cataluña, the Catalan Film Library.
To the participants in the activities, around 5,600, we must add the visitors to the three FADfest exhibitions, «The Best Design of the Year», «The Materials Farm Exhibition» and the mobile exhibition which travelled around Barcelona on one of the city’s tourist buses, «The State of Tourism», which only in the week of the FADfest received a total of 8,200 visitors. Of these exhibitions, the first two will remain open to the public until 29/10 and 21/09 respectively.
